This blog chronicles my journey as a Fulbright Scholar in Ukraine in 2010. For 10 months, I will live in Artemivsk, Ukraine studying development of sensory processing and emotional maturity of children raised in orphanages. In my 'free time' I will teach English, volunteer, and probably do everything else I am offered...:). Disclaimer: All views and opinions expressed on this blog are my own and do not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of the U.S. Fulbright program.
Explanations for pictures: From top left down and then up to top right and down- 1. Typical soviet-era apartment building in Artemivsk, 2. My Fulbright friend Myroslava in front of St. Andrew's church in Kiev (every church in Ukraine is this gorgeous), 3. kids in 2-5 year old classroom preparing to go wash hands before lunch, 4. delicious meal of borscht and salad Myroslava prepared my first night in Kiev, 5. my first meal in my new apartment...shrimp! with eyeballs!!! eek but delicious, 6. my 'work' right now, the baby house orphanage, 7. an example of poor infrastructure, you can't quite tell but these cars are parked up on a bank of about 1 foot of snow on a major street in Kiev (no plows!), 8. my favorite! a child at the orphanage posing after being dressed up as Babushka (grandmother) and pretending to 'read' a novel HAHA so cute I just died laughing!
